Sales agreed fall for a fourth straight month as TwentyCi cuts its 2026 transaction forecast to 1.16 million

TwentyCi reported that sales agreed fell about 6% year on year in August, a fourth consecutive month of declines above 5%, and cut its 2026 transaction forecast to 1.16 million, down 3.9% on 2025. Completions lag agreed sales, so the 5% growth HMRC recorded in July reflects deals struck earlier in the year. With new listings 2.1% higher year on year and at a ten-year high, sellers face more competition and buyers gain room to negotiate. Volumes still sit 5.6% above 2024.
