Government allocates first £10bn of £39bn affordable homes programme to 70,000 homes outside London

The government confirmed on 26 August how the first £10bn of its £39bn Social and Affordable Homes Programme will be spent: around 70,000 homes outside London, roughly 60% of them at social rent, delivered through 33 strategic partners. Grant allocation shapes the pipeline a decade out rather than the stock on the market now. For buyers, the shared-ownership share matters most; for sellers, nothing changes this month. JLL notes this is existing money being allocated, not new funding.
