Basildon planners recommend approval for 19 new modular homes to replace RAAC-affected Knights Estate
Basildon Council's planning committee will decide on 7 October on Sempra Homes' plan for 19 modular homes at the Knights Estate, which was found to be unsafe because of RAAC concrete in 2024, with officers recommending approval. The same meeting considers more than 300 homes across the borough, including 175 at Tye Common Road in Billericay with 50% affordable housing, also recommended for approval. For Basildon buyers, it is a step towards replacing lost homes and adding supply in a borough the council says currently has just 2.05 years of its required five-year housing land supply. For sellers in Basildon and the surrounding wards, the effect on prices is small in the near term; these are decisions on planning, and building would follow later.
