SS14 is the heart of the Basildon New Town plan. Streets are laid out in the characteristic 1950s–60s radial pattern, with pedestrian-only sections running through the town centre and wide green boulevards linking the residential neighbourhoods.
Basildon station sits in the centre. Roughly 33 minutes into Fenchurch Street and one of the reasons SS14 stays in demand despite the town centre's mixed reputation.
