Research by ValuQ

Original property research, free to read and cite

We publish original analysis of the UK property market, local market trends, and how people actually buy and sell homes. Every paper is openly licensed, carries a permanent DOI, and is free for anyone to read, quote, and build on with credit.

About ValuQ Research

ValuQ is a UK property platform that gives homeowners free, side-by-side valuations from competing local estate agents, while the seller stays anonymous until they choose to connect. Alongside the platform, we publish research drawn from public property data and our own analysis.

Each paper is deposited on an open research repository, so it has a permanent, citable record (a DOI) and an open licence. Papers are published by ValuQ Ltd, registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17240955).

ValuQ: An Anonymous, Competitive Property Valuation Marketplace for the United Kingdom

A full technical and product paper on how ValuQ works: the problem with the way UK valuations are gathered today, the anonymous competitive-valuation model, the end to end system, the Agent XChange referral layer, the technology and architecture, the feature set, and the privacy, security and compliance model.

What we looked at: How the established UK valuation model handles seller data, and the design of an alternative where the seller stays anonymous until they choose to connect.

How we research

Real data, not guesses. Our market work is built from public sources such as HM Land Registry sold prices, the Energy Performance Certificate register, the UK House Price Index, and our own platform data, with the method shown so anyone can check it.

Open by default. Every paper is published under a Creative Commons Attribution licence, so journalists, researchers, and anyone else can quote and reuse it as long as ValuQ is credited.

Local and national. We cover the wider UK market and go deep on local areas, starting with our pilot town of Basildon and the surrounding region.
