Rightmove says new-seller asking prices fall 1% in July, a steeper drop than the usual summer dip
Rightmove reports the average asking price of newly listed homes fell 1.0%, or £3,832, in July to £372,359 — a steeper drop than the typical 0.2% July dip. It blames distracted summer buyers, pointing to hot weather, the World Cup and a change of prime minister, with activity running about 6% below a year ago while supply sits near a 12-year high for the season. For sellers, that makes pricing keenly from day one matter more; for buyers, there is a little more room to negotiate. These are asking prices, not achieved prices, and much of the fall is seasonal.
