NatWest cuts selected mortgage rates by up to 0.22 points, the first big lender to reverse September's hikes
NatWest cut selected new-business mortgage rates by up to 0.22 percentage points from 24 September, taking its 90% LTV two-year purchase fix from 5.56% to 5.53%. It is the first major lender to trim pricing after a month of increases, a sign that swap-rate pressure may be easing at the margin. For buyers with smaller deposits, it is modest relief worth watching. It is not a turn yet: TSB and Principality raised rates the same day, and the average two-year fix sits near 5.9%.
