Five big lenders reprice for a second time in September as the average two-year fix reaches 5.73%

NatWest, Santander, HSBC, Lloyds and TSB all repriced for the second time this month, lifting the average two-year fixed rate to 5.73% from 4.84% at the start of March, Moneyfacts said on 15 September. Fixed pricing tracks swap rates, now above 4.70%, rather than Bank Rate. For buyers that is roughly £131 more a month on a £250,000 loan over 25 years; for sellers it trims what offers can stretch to. The MPC is still expected to hold at 3.75% on 17 September.
